Data Centre, West London (2025–2026)
What was the client and the project?
The client was a specialist sub-contractor working on a data centre located in West London.
The scope was for double banked acoustic louvres over two roof levels to limit noise pollution from the plant.
What was the challenge?
The original Main Contractor went into administration during the works. An existing Trade Contractor was then appointed as the Main Contractor, before themselves appointing a specialist Fit-Out Contractor. Our client was then appointed by said Fit-Out Contractor.
The roof itself had already been cladded externally, albeit achieving only aesthetic properties. Had our client been employed earlier, they could have designed a scheme that worked both acoustically and aesthetically.
Consequently, the design and interface was a challenge allowing for the available space.
What were the financial or operational risks?
The late appointment of our client within the site programme meant that nearby works to the acoustic louvres were already progressed and therefore needed to be removed to enable our installation. Consequently, the roof level was overly congested and there was little space in which to both store materials and work.
Logistically the works were split into 3 phases and therefore instructed in a piecemeal manner, in part due to the administration of the original Main Contractor.
What action did LMA take?
LMA reviewed the contract documents to ensure our client’s position was protected.
Following this, LMA:
- Managed the application for payment process, ensuring payment of entitlement in a timely manner.
- Obtained the necessary written instructions to further protect our client’s position.
This project demonstrates LMA’s ability to:
- Understand and suitably advise on bespoke forms of contract.
- Generally, manage all post contract surveying roles, including:
- Complying with the payment processes.
- Recovering variations.
- Raising the necessary notices.
