Specialises in prolongation and loss and/or expense claim preparation and negotiation.

Gained the majority of experience from working with an international contractor, progressing from student QS to Chief QS of an operating division of the group.

Spent a short time working in a freelance capacity before experiencing life working for a specialist subcontractor.

Moved back into main contracting with one of the largest privately owned contractors in the UK to head up their City and West End refurbishment division.

Was tempted back into the subcontract market by being offered a directorship and the chance to have overall control of the Group's commercial department.

Was approached and tempted to move from Bowmer & Kirkland with the opportunity to become Commercial Director in charge of the group's commercial activities, which was generally concentrated around the the internal fit out market.

1998 - 2000
Opportunity arose to return to main contracting to head up Bowmer & Kirkland's City and West End refurbishment division.

PACKMAN CONTRACTS PLC

Approached to work full time for a specialist ceiling and dry lining contractor in the role of Commercial / Contracts Manager.

FREELANCE QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Working predominantly for Taylor Woodrow and a select list of specialist subcontractors.

1976 - 1996
TAYLOR WOODROW GROUP

Joined Taylor Woodrow in 1976 and started work as a student QS for their refurbishment division, Myton Ltd. In 1982 transferred to their international department and worked for three years in the Middle East (Iraq and Saudi Arabia). Returned to the UK in 1985 and transferred bay to Myton. Made steady progress with promotion to Senior QS in 1987, Deputy Chief QS in 1995.

ACADEMIC INTERESTS
Recently attained an MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration at King's College London, generally recognised as the premier course of it's type in the country. This included a 20,000 word dissertation entitled 'Concern For The Health and Safety of Construction Workers in the UK - Impact of Legislation' a copy of which resides in the college library.

Has recently applied to become CIOB panel member.

Black belt in Karate. Never ending saga of building own extension.
